Founded in 1995, Hangzhou Experimental Foreign Language School is the first high-end private international bilingual school in Hangzhou as a boarding school with  small class teaching. It has more than 2,500 teachers and students in its elementary school, middle school and high school.

The school has won many honorary titles, such as National Excellent Private School, Zhejiang Standardization School, Zhejiang High Quality Characteristic Teaching Private School, Hangzhou People's Satisfaction School, Hangzhou Safe and Civilized Model School and so on. It is the designated Cooperative School of UNESCO's Educational Academic Center and the Education Teaching and Research Practice Base of Toronto University.
